AJ Engineering was founded in Moray in 1999 with just three people and has now grown to more than 120 employees delivering projects across Scotland and the north of England – and even to the ends of the Earth in Antarctica.
AJ Engineering & Construction Services Ltd provide a wide spectrum of engineering services ranging from steel fabrication and CNC machining to cladding and civil engineering. They work with major contractors as well as clients involved in material manufacture, food processors and local authorities.
Recent projects have included the steel erection of the British Antarctic Survey’s main research station in Antarctica, creating the new Discovery Building research centre.
Closer to home they have built the Forres Station railway bridge, and are currently fabricating the new bridge at Dalcross Station at Inverness Airport and they’ve been involved in the Union Terrace Gardens, in the centre of Aberdeen.
But the company are not stopping there, they are now looking to work on projects out of this world as they begin some of the new space satellite launch facilities in the north of Scotland.
Based in Moray, they are also big employers in the community, attracting a local workforce and providing the skilled training required for all employees, this in turn has created strong loyalty, with staff turnover low. The company also finds it benefits from the army barracks, with some of the ex-servicemen joining the workforce, who already have strong skills in the sector and are keen to stay in the region.
They are also continuing to grow and invest in the area, recently having invested in a new workshop in Forres and with ambitions for further expansion in the coming years.
