The Digital Health programme aims to support the remobilisation of health and care services in Moray, by investing in cutting-edge research and innovation in the digital health and social care sector.
A £5 million initiative funded by the UK Government and delivered by Scotland’s Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI) through the Moray Growth Deal.
The first project is the Rural Centre of Excellence (RCE) for Digital Health & Care Innovation.
The centre aims to:
The RCE hosts a state-of-the-art Demonstration Simulation Environment (DSE) and a range of demand led ‘Living Labs’.
The Demonstration Simulation Environment (DSE) is a physically immersive facility where citizens, industry, health and care providers, academic and education providers, and wider public sector services can collaborate and co-design the right digital tools to meet health and social care needs now and in the future.
The Alexander Graham Bell building in UHI Moray has been secured as the physical location of the DSE.
During our stakeholder engagement in Moray, DHI identified five key themes to drive innovation in the region’s health and social care sector.
The Living Lab concept puts users at the heart and drives co-design and co-production methodologies to be accelerated in the innovation process, to develop innovative digital solutions at pace to enhance health, care, and well-being and attract economic development to the region.
Using the Living Lab methodology from ENoLL, we are hosting workshops and interviews with practitioners and the public to assess current services, identify challenges, and explore improvements.

A key feature of this project is citizen engagement. The RCE is looking for people to join the Citizen Panel and provide feedback on the project’s direction.
