Five cafés in Elgin and Lossiemouth have been shortlisted in the Scottish Café Awards, ranking among some of the best in the country.

Calum’s Kitchen, which operates out of Moray Sports Centre, has been nominated for Café Kitchen of the Year.

Calum Main, owner, said: “I’m absolutely buzzing and can’t believe it! The nomination just came out of nowhere, I got an email and thought it was spam, but when I looked into it I realised it was actually true.

“I have no idea who nominated us but it’s absolutely magic. After all our hard work and getting through Covid, it’s really great to get the recognition and to see so many businesses in one area be nominated.

“What a great achievement for us all.”

Café Kombucha, Batchen Street Coffee, and The Ditsy Teacup in Elgin have also been shortlisted, alongside Twenty Nineteen Coffee in Lossiemouth.

Laura Scott, owner of The Ditsy Teacup, which was nominated for Customers Café of the Year, said: “It’s lovely to be nominated and so nice to be recognised by our customers.

“It’s great to see people are recognising cafés in small towns too, not just in big cities, and so lovely someone took the time to nominate us.”

The Scottish Café Awards will be held at the Marriott Glasgow on 27 June.
